Invisible Knapsacks, 2013
Invisible Knapsacks is a series of artists multiples made from found objects from 2013. Six clear knapsacks are filled with various items, as well as a label that relates each backpack to a specific privileged group. The items in the knapsack relate to various privileges that members of each group possess. The label reads “FILL IN”. This project serves as a physical representation of Peggy McIntosh’s concept of the Invisible Knapsack, and encourages viewers to think critically about the privileges they may or may not possess.
